SIZING:
Bedding Quilt Sizing:
We use standard mattress sizing to guide the sizes of our quilts. In general, we size our quilts to allow for mattress coverage and a 12” drop on three sides of the mattress. However, the design of the quilt at hand may dictate a slightly different scale than standard bedding, for example, if a design of a particular quilt is in a square composition, it will still be sized to fit the mattress, but the drop on the sides of the mattress may extend longer than 12” to account for the pattern. Upon the start of an order, we will communicate any sizing details for the piece.
Twin Mattress: 38” width x 75” length — Standard Twin Quilt: 62” width x 87” length
Full Mattress: 53” width x 75” length — Standard Full Quilt: 77” width x 87” length
Queen Mattress: 60” width x 80” length — Standard Queen Quilt: 84” width x 92” length
King Mattress: 76” width x 80” length — Standard King Quilt: 100” width x 92” length
Cal King Mattress: 72” width x 84” length — Standard Cal King Quilt: 96” width x 96” length
Custom Sizing:
With our made to order quilts, we can work with you on a custom size. For example, if you have a queen bed, but want a drop longer than 12”, or if you are looking for a smaller piece to use as a wall-hanging. We work on custom sizes on a case-by-case basis, and price any size adjustments accordingly. There are some sizes that do not work with our processes - either the patchwork piecing gets too small to be workable, or the quilt is too large for our sewing machine tolerances. However, the best thing to do is ask! Contact us with any questions regarding custom sizing.
Scrap Quilt Sizing:
Our scrap quilts are made with offcut, scrap, remnant and deadstock fabrics. As scraps are inconsistent in quantity, shape and color - so are the scrap quilts. Because of this, they generally are not made to standard bedding sizes. Refer to the individual piece for size information.
HANGING:
Upon ordering, let us know if you are planning on hanging your quilt. We can advise on hanging solutions, and attach a hanging sleeve to your quilt if needed. Adding on a standard hanging sleeve is an additional charge of $50, this additional charge may vary depending upon the specifics of the hanging system.
There are many hanging systems available on the market. Generally there are a few categories of hanging systems to look for:
Clamp style hangers: this hardware system clamps the quilt at the top between two pieces of wood (or other material), which then get attached to the wall. The benefit of this style is that there is no need for a sleeve, loops, etc. to be sewn on to the quilt.
“Invisible” style hangers: this hardware system requires a sleeve to be sewn on the top back of the quilt. A piece of wood (or other material) is inserted into the sleeve, and then attached to the wall. The benefit of this style is that the hanging hardware is not visible.
Framing: you can work with a professional framer or framing company to have quilts framed. This works best for smaller scale quilts, due to the scale and weight.

RETURNS / REPAIRS:
M.Callahan Studio quilts are made to be functional, and can withstand wear and tear associated with standard use. Quilts age beautifully with time and use, taking on texture and tactility. It is natural for colors to fade in textiles over time, and for textiles to break down and degrade over time. Here is more information on how to care for your quilt to help extend its life.
Our studio is not responsible for any damage or wear and tear that is caused by use. We make our quilts with sensitivity to craftsmanship and artistry, and hope that the quilt stays with you for the long haul. If you are unsatisfied with your quilt, please reach out to us and we will engage in good faith conversation on how best to resolve the issue.
If your quilt (either one you got from us, or any other quilt) is in need of repair, please reach out to us. We are in the process of establishing a quilt repair program, and are interested and happy to offer repair services.
PATTERNS / REPRODUCTIONS
M.Callahan Studio does not currently sell or distribute our quilt patterns and processes. Quilting is a wonderful craft tradition, with a history and culture of sharing and riffing on patterns. We respect this tradition, but do ask that our work is not reproduced or duplicated in any way. This is a personal artistic project and livelihood for the founder.
MISC.
International Orders: We accept international orders. Some countries charge an import fee that will be paid by the person receiving the shipment. For more information on the ordering process, contact us directly.
